Aventura City of Excellence School is asking students to dress in orange on Wednesday, Oct. 21 for Unity Day, a national event during Bullying Prevention Month.
Students in kindergarten through eighth grade can swap their uniforms for orange clothing that day, but must be wearing at least 50 percent orange to participate, according to a notice on the school's website. Teachers and staff plan to join in.
PACER's National Bullying Prevention Center created Unity Day in 2011. The event asks schools and communities across the country to wear orange each October to show support for students affected by bullying.
ACES also reminded families that students and parents can report a bullying incident through an online form linked on the school's website.
