Happea's Mediterranean Grill plans to open its flagship location in Aventura in November, bringing the Brickell-born fast-casual restaurant to the city where its owners live.

The restaurant is slated to open at 2749 NE 193rd St., Suite 20, although published reports differ on the exact street number. Co-owners Danny Omari and Eduardo Wainberg, brothers-in-law and Aventura residents, announced the expansion after years of searching for the right space, according to the South Florida Sun-Times.

"For years we've watched Aventura grow and evolve and waited for the right opportunity to bring Happea's here and we couldn't be more excited it's finally happening," Omari said.

The pair opened their first Happea's location in Brickell in July 2022. The restaurant developed a following for its Mediterranean-inspired menu and social media presence.

Larger space, expanded menu

The Aventura restaurant will be larger than the original Brickell location, which the owners described as a smaller, retrofitted space where they developed the concept while searching for a flagship site.

Wainberg said the new location would allow them to build the restaurant as they originally envisioned it.

The menu features mezze, pita pockets, bowls, salads and desserts. Signature dishes include made-to-order hummus, chicken shawarma pockets, the Shakshuka Brunch Bowl and the Carnivoreishh Bowl.

The Carnivoreishh Bowl combines ribeye shawarma, beef kebab and chicken shawarma and is advertised as containing 81 grams of protein. The owners say the restaurant uses kosher meats and avoids seed oils in its cooking.

The Aventura location also plans to serve beer, wine and cocktails, expanding on the offerings available at the Brickell restaurant.

Family-run concept comes home

Omari developed the restaurant's recipes, drawing on decades of experience in bakeries, restaurants and nightclubs. Wainberg oversees the business's engineering and technology operations.

Creative director Melanie Omari, Wainberg's sister and Danny Omari's wife, oversees the restaurant's visual identity. With a background in film, she helps shape the physical environment, branding and social media presence, according to the Sun-Times.

The owners have emphasized hospitality and social media engagement as central elements of the restaurant's identity.

Happea's Aventura plans to operate from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.

The restaurant has not announced a specific opening date in November.
