A cold front pushing into South Florida will bring heavy rain and gusty winds starting Saturday, Oct. 17. The storm system is forecast to linger through Sunday, Oct. 18, with flood concerns across Miami-Dade County, including the Aventura area.

NBC 6 meteorologist Llarisa Abreu forecast that Saturday morning will see some rain, with the heaviest downpours arriving in the afternoon. Flooding is possible in low-lying and poor-drainage areas, according to NBC 6.

Sunday looks worse.

Abreu forecast that winds will pick up as the front lingers, "gusting in the order of 30-35 mph." NBC 6's Sunday forecast calls for a high near 83 degrees with showers and storms continuing.

CBS News Miami reported a Level 1 flash flood threat is possible on Sunday. The outlet also noted that several inches of rain over the coming week could help ease drought conditions that persist in Miami-Dade County.

The Tallahassee Democrat reported that rain combined with higher-than-normal tides could cause street flooding in the Miami area on Sunday and Monday, Oct. 19. Several National Weather Service offices warned of dangerous surf and beach conditions over the weekend.

The Tallahassee Democrat's Miami forecast puts Saturday's high at 87 degrees with a low of 76. Sunday's high is 82 with a low of 76.

The front is expected to clear by Monday, ushering in drier air and a break from the humidity, according to NBC 6. Breezy conditions will stick around into next week.

Residents can monitor conditions through the National Weather Service's Miami office at weather.gov/mfl or by calling Miami-Dade County's emergency information line at 311.
