Aventura-area foodies looking for a weekend road trip have one last shot at Smorgasburg South Florida before the open-air market closes for the summer.
The second annual Fast & Flavorful: An Asian-Latino Street Food & Car Fest takes over Flagler Village in Fort Lauderdale on Saturday, July 25, and Sunday, July 26, with free admission, nine food vendors, two car showcases and live DJ sets.
The market launched in Flagler Village in April after relocating from Wynwood, and this festival marks the final event of its first Fort Lauderdale season.
Asian-Latino street food takes center stage
The vendor lineup leans into cross-cultural mashups. Los Hermanos will serve chofan Dominicano topped with pica pollo and tostones. Korean Kitchen brings its signature bulgogi. Bootchogs Grill dishes Filipino barbecue, including pork barbecue and chicken inasal. Tropi Rolls offers cooked sushi-style rolls stuffed with sweet plantain, meats and cilantro sauce. Birrieria Tijuana is pouring birria ramen, and El Dogo Napolitano has a kimchi pizza dog on the menu.
Cars, coffee and karaoke
Saturday's main attraction is the Best Ride Competition, presented with Cars & Coffee Broward. Eight curated vehicles will be judged, and every competitor's registration fee goes into the winner's prize pool.
Sunday shifts gears to the Jeep Show & Shine, hosted by the South Florida Jeep Club. Both days feature silent disco karaoke, live DJ sets and an Espresso Garage coffee pop-up alongside the car displays.
Hours run later than the market's usual noon-to-8 p.m. schedule: Saturday, July 25, from 3 to 10 p.m., and Sunday, July 26, from 2 to 8 p.m. The venue is at 536 NE Second St. in Fort Lauderdale, about three blocks from the Brightline station and reachable by Water Taxi.
Admission is free, though food and drinks are pay as you go. The venue does not have on-site parking. Street parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis, and visitors can also park at the 545WYN garage a few blocks away for a flat $15 daily rate. The market is held rain or shine, though organizers note some vendors may opt not to set up during an all-day downpour. Updates will be posted on Smorgasburg South Florida's website and social media channels.
A summer sendoff
Gaston Becherano Cohen, who purchased Smorgasburg South Florida in 2024, told the South Florida Sun Sentinel in March that Fort Lauderdale's growing food scene drew him north from Wynwood.
"There's this, like, attitude of 'We don't want to be like Miami, we want to be our own thing.' And whatever that 'own thing' is, it's bubbling and growing," he said.
After the July 26 festival, the market will take a summer break and return in the fall. No reopening date has been announced.
