Miami-Dade County Public Schools announced district-wide Back to School Night dates on Friday, Aug. 21, giving Aventura-area families just two days' notice before the first round of events begins.
Elementary schools will hold Back to School Night during the week of Aug. 24. Middle schools follow the week of Aug. 31, and senior high schools the week of Sept. 7.
Aventura-area schools and their windows
Aventura City of Excellence School, a K-8 campus, is expected to fall under the elementary window the week of Aug. 24, though families should confirm directly with the school. Norman S. Edelcup/Sunny Isles Beach K-8 falls in the same window.
Don Soffer Aventura High School and Alonzo and Tracy Mourning Senior High are both scheduled for the week of Sept. 7.
Here's the full breakdown by school level:
- Week of Aug. 24 — Elementary and K-8 (ACES, Edelcup/Sunny Isles Beach K-8)
- Week of Aug. 31 — Middle schools
- Week of Sept. 7 — Senior high schools (Don Soffer Aventura High, Mourning Senior High)
How to get your school's details
Because the district provided only week-level windows, parents will need to check with their child's school for the specific night, start time and format. M-DCPS recommends families download the free Dadeschools Mobile App, available for iPhone and Android, to access school-specific updates and schedules throughout the year.
Parents who have not yet updated their contact information with their child's school should do so before the scheduled event to ensure they receive details as schools finalize plans.
Students across the district, the nation's third-largest with roughly 334,000 enrolled, began the 2026-2027 school year on Thursday, Aug. 13. The staggered Back to School Night schedule gives each school level its own week so families with children at multiple levels can attend all sessions.
