Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has been linked to the $69.5 million sale of an oceanfront mansion in Golden Beach, although his involvement has not been publicly confirmed.
Local real estate sources identified Bezos as the likely buyer of the property at 255 Ocean Blvd., according to an Oct. 13 report by Katherine Kallergis in The Real Deal.
The all-cash transaction, which closed in September, marks the most expensive single-family home sale in Golden Beach history, according to the publication.
Property records cited by The Real Deal identify the buyer as Meridian Coast LLC, a Delaware company. The records do not establish whether Bezos is behind the purchase.
Oceanfront estate sells below asking price
The seven-bedroom, 12-bathroom mansion spans approximately 17,500 square feet on a 0.7-acre lot with 100 feet of ocean frontage.
The property includes a guesthouse, swimming pool and spa.
It was listed in February for $88.5 million before the asking price dropped to $79.5 million. The final $69.5 million sale price was $19 million, or approximately 21.5%, below the original asking price.
The seller was 255 OB LLC, an affiliate of North Miami Beach-based Treo Construction, managed by Tania Van Dam Murciano and CEO Ricardo Halfen.
The affiliate purchased the property for $10.7 million in 2021, according to The Real Deal. The difference between that purchase price and the latest sale price was $58.8 million, before accounting for development, financing and transaction expenses.
Douglas Elliman agent Dina Goldentayer represented the seller. Hillary Hertzberg and Jill Eber of the Jills Zeder Group at Coldwell Banker represented the buyer.
The Real Deal reported that the agents and Halfen either declined to comment or did not respond to requests for comment.
Bezos owns Indian Creek properties
Bezos has assembled a waterfront residential compound on Indian Creek Island, the exclusive Miami-Dade County enclave sometimes called Billionaire Bunker.
He spent approximately $234 million acquiring three properties there between 2023 and 2024, according to previous real estate reporting.
The Amazon founder relocated to the Miami area in 2023. His presence has added to the concentration of wealthy technology and finance executives purchasing waterfront estates in South Florida.
If Bezos is confirmed as the Golden Beach buyer, the transaction would expand his already substantial local real estate holdings.
Golden Beach attracts record-setting sales
Golden Beach has experienced a series of major luxury property transactions.
In March, The Real Deal reported that an unidentified buyer paid $52.6 million for a waterfront home and adjacent lot at 387 and 395 Ocean Blvd.
Goldentayer also represented the buyer in that transaction.
The latest $69.5 million sale illustrates the continued demand for oceanfront property in Golden Beach, where large estates and direct beach access command some of South Florida's highest residential prices.
