Marta Gálvez, a Córdoba-born flamenco dancer who started training at age three, will bring her show "La Velada: An Alchemy of Past and Present" to the Aventura Arts & Cultural Center for two performances on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at 8 p.m. and Sunday, October 25, 2026, at 2 p.m.
The Aventura Arts & Cultural Center announced the show on Wednesday, July 9, 2026.
Gálvez earned a degree in Spanish Dance from the Professional Dance Conservatory and studied on scholarship at the Andalusian Dance Center. She has performed with companies led by David Coria, María Pagés, Úrsula López, José Porcel, and Juan Carlos Avecilla. Her honors include the Outstanding Dancer Prize in 2015 and the Young Flamenco Artists Award from the Provincial Council of Córdoba in 2023.
The show blends traditional flamenco with contemporary movement. Aventura is one stop on a broader North American tour for Gálvez.
Presenters and funding
The performance is produced by Spain Flamenco Arts and presented by the City of Aventura, FUNDarte, and the Miami-Dade County Auditorium as part of the FL.Flamencos series. That series is co-presented with the Miami-Dade County Auditorium's Away From Home program, which brings Spanish dance to venues across South Florida.
Financial support comes from the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs, the Knight Foundation, The Miami Foundation, the City of Aventura, MiamiArtZine, and WLRN, according to FUNDarte.
