Thirty-four Miami-Dade Fire Rescue recruits are days away from earning their badges, and their families just got a firsthand look at what the past several months of training have demanded.
MDFR welcomed the loved ones of Recruit Class 160 to its Training Center in Doral for Family Night on Thursday, July 9, the department announced on its official X and Instagram accounts. Families met department leadership and watched a live demonstration of the recruits' firefighting skills.
The badge-pinning ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, July 16, at the MDFR Training Facility at 9300 NW 41 St. in Doral, where Fire Chief Ray Jadallah is expected to preside.
Local stations in the pipeline
MDFR staffs three stations covering Aventura, Sunny Isles Beach, and Golden Beach: Station 8 at 2900 Aventura Blvd., Station 10 at 175 172nd St. in Sunny Isles Beach, and Station 33 at 2601 Pointe East Drive in Aventura. The department has not announced how many Class 160 graduates will be assigned to those stations.
Third class in eight months
Class 160 is the third consecutive recruit class to reach graduation in roughly eight months. Class 158 produced 46 firefighters in November 2025. Class 159 graduated 73 on Thursday, April 9, the largest class in the department's history.
"Recruit Class 159 marks a historic milestone as the largest class in our department's history, reflecting both the growing needs of our community and our continued commitment to excellence," Chief Jadallah said at that April ceremony.
The smaller Class 160 cohort had 34 recruits as of late April, according to Local 10 News. The demographic breakdown at that time: nine Black, 20 Hispanic, and five white. MDFR has not confirmed whether the final headcount changed before graduation.
