Aventura-area families with 3-year-olds have a new public preschool option at Greynolds Park Elementary in North Miami Beach, the closest site in Miami-Dade County Public Schools' new PK-3 Sprouts program.

The tuition-based program costs $7,200 per year and fills a gap for children too young for Florida's free Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK) program, which serves 4-year-olds. The district announced PK-3 Sprouts on April 8 with seven pilot schools. A back-to-school update in August expanded the list to nine sites, adding Coral Park Elementary School and Palm Springs North K-8.

Superintendent Jose L. Dotres said on Aug. 16 that the program focuses on literacy, math and social growth, with two adults in every classroom.

Tuition Runs $7,200 a Year, Billed Monthly

Tuition breaks down to $40 per day across 180 instructional days. Families pay $720 per month over 10 months, plus a $150 nonrefundable registration fee at enrollment.

School Day Runs 7:30 A.M. to 1:50 P.M., With Aftercare Available

Classes run from 7:30 a.m. to 1:50 p.m. Each school's onsite aftercare provider offers an optional extended day until 6 p.m. Two adults staff every classroom, with a 2-to-17 adult-to-student ratio.

Children become eligible the day after they turn 3 and can enroll year-round if seats are available, though space is limited. Families should go directly to their preferred school to register, according to the district's April announcement.

Greynolds Park Elementary Closest Site to Aventura

Greynolds Park Elementary sits at 1536 NE 179th St. in North Miami Beach, within Miami-Dade County Commission District 4, the same district that includes Aventura, Sunny Isles Beach and Golden Beach.

All Nine Pilot Schools Span Three Regions

The full roster of nine sites spans the district's North, Central and South regions: Coral Park Elementary, E.W.F. Stirrup Elementary, Greynolds Park Elementary, Howard Drive Elementary, iPrep Academy, Miami Beach South Pointe Elementary, Palm Springs North K-8, Silver Bluff Elementary and William Lehman Elementary.

Program Feeds Into Free VPK for 4-Year-Olds

PK-3 Sprouts feeds into VPK, which is free for all Florida 4-year-olds who turn 4 by Sept. 1, 2026. The district offers VPK at more than 200 schools countywide.

Families interested in PK-3 Sprouts should contact Greynolds Park Elementary or another pilot school directly to check availability and begin registration.
