Drivers along Miami Gardens Drive should expect overnight lane closures and pile driving noise starting Tuesday, Sept. 22, and running through Friday, Oct. 2.

The City of Miami Gardens announced on X that nighttime pile driving and roadway closures will take place along S.R. 860, also known as NW 183rd Street and Miami Gardens Drive. The city's post, published Wednesday, Sept. 9, included four attached images that appear to show construction maps or detailed notices, though the image contents were not available in text form.

The closures fall within the corridor of an active Florida Department of Transportation construction project on S.R. 860. That FDOT project is adding one travel lane in each direction on Miami Gardens Drive, along with a shared-use path on the north side of the road. It also includes new traffic and pedestrian signals at NW 87th Avenue and NW 82nd Avenue. The project stretches from Interstate 75 to NW 79th Place.

The city's announcement did not name FDOT or a specific contractor, so whether the pile driving is tied directly to the lane-addition project has not been confirmed.

S.R. 860 ends at Biscayne Boulevard near Aventura Mall and serves as a major commuter alternate to the Palmetto Expressway and the Golden Glades Interchange. The 11 days of overnight work could affect evening and early-morning commutes across Aventura, Sunny Isles Beach and Golden Beach.

The announcement did not specify which hours the overnight work will take place, which lanes will close, or what detour routes drivers should follow. The specific segment of S.R. 860 where pile driving will occur, between which cross-streets, was also not identified.
