The high school just south of Aventura that draws students from across the corridor has earned something it never had before: an 'A' from the state.
North Miami Beach Senior High School received its first-ever 'A' school grade for the 2025-26 school year, according to results the Florida Department of Education released July 1. The district announced the milestone on X on Friday, Aug. 14, as students returned for the second day of the new school year.
It's the school's first 'A.' Ever.
The Chargers' campus at 1247 NE 167th St. sits less than a mile from Aventura's southern border and accepts magnet applications from across Miami-Dade County for its BEAT (Biomedical and Environmental Advancement), iPrep Academy and AP Capstone programs, plus academies in Information Technology and Finance.
The grade puts NMB Senior High in strong company. Miami-Dade County Public Schools earned its seventh consecutive district-wide 'A' rating under the leadership of superintendent Rafael A. Villalobos, with 63% of graded schools earning an 'A' and 99% receiving a C or better, according to district data posted on Instagram. Statewide, 76% of graded schools earned an A or B, and only 31 schools across Florida received a D or F.
Florida's school grades incorporate results from the FAST (Florida Assessment of Student Thinking) assessment, including ELA reading and mathematics components. Statewide, 61% of students in grades 3-10 scored at or above Achievement Level 3 in FAST ELA/Reading in 2026, up from 57% in 2025.
What it means for Aventura families
For parents weighing school-choice options, the 'A' grade adds a public, data-backed credential to a campus already carrying a STEAM Bronze designation. The school's homepage displays both badges.
Families interested in NMB Senior High's magnet programs for the 2027-28 school year can apply through the M-DCPS Parent Portal at dadeschools.net. The application window typically opens around Oct. 1 and closes in mid-January, according to district guidance. A second "Open Seats" round runs in the spring on a first-come, first-served basis.
The school can be reached at (305) 949-8381 for enrollment questions.
