Four students at Norman S. Edelcup / Sunny Isles Beach K-8 School were publicly honored by the Sunny Isles Beach City Commission for winning the school's annual art contest.

Gintare Buta, Amelia Surovtsev, Ariana Uliumdzhieva, and Yaravlav Voitovich received recognition at the commission's July workshop, the City of Sunny Isles Beach announced on X on Tuesday, July 28. The city described the four as "talented winners" who earned "well-deserved recognition."

The announcement did not specify the students' grade levels, the subjects of their artwork, or the contest categories.

Norman S. Edelcup / Sunny Isles Beach K-8, located at 201 182nd Drive, is a Miami-Dade County Public Schools campus serving pre-K through eighth grade under Principal Marc W. Schwam. The school holds an "A" rating from the Florida Department of Education, according to M-DCPS records, and enrolled roughly 1,729 students during the 2024-2025 school year, according to Public School Review. In 2023, 72% of its students scored at or above proficiency in math, compared to a statewide average of 52%.

The school draws families from Sunny Isles Beach, Aventura, and Golden Beach.

Miami-Dade County Public Schools students begin the 2026-2027 school year on Thursday, August 13.
