Pet owners can get a hand-painted portrait of their dog, cat or other companion animal starting Saturday, Sept. 19, at the Marc Jacobs store inside Aventura Mall.

The pop-up, called "Bark Jacobs," runs three consecutive weekends: Sept. 19-20, Sept. 26-27 and Oct. 3-4. Shoppers who spend $398 or more receive a complimentary portrait, according to the mall's event listing. The mall's listing describes the offer as turning "your best friend into a hand-painted work of art."

Part of a national handbag campaign

The portraits are part of a broader Marc Jacobs program tied to the brand's leather handbag line. The Bark Jacobs page on marcjacobs.com describes the pop-up as a chance to choose from a selection of leather totes and handbags in person, with the hand-painted portrait included as a bonus. The program is now in its fourth season nationally, with previous stops at the brand's SoHo flagship in New York, the Hamptons and the Mall at Millenia in Orlando, according to Marc Jacobs social media.

Hours and spending minimum unconfirmed

The Aventura Mall event listing does not specify whether the $398 minimum must be spent at Marc Jacobs or at any store in the mall. Hours for the Aventura pop-up have not been posted. The New York location lists Saturday hours of noon to 7 p.m. and Sunday hours of 12:30 to 6 p.m., but those times have not been confirmed for Aventura.
