Volunteers can help clear trash from the Sunny Isles Beach shoreline Saturday, Aug. 15, at a free city-organized cleanup running from 8 to 11 a.m. at Ellen Wynne Beach Access, 19333 Collins Ave.

No registration is required. Just bring reusable gloves. The city provides buckets.

The cleanup is part of a monthly program that rotates among the city's 22 beach access points along Collins Avenue, according to the city's Parks and Recreation department. Ellen Wynne last hosted a cleanup in February, and the paved, handicap-accessible access point includes an on-site shower for volunteers who want to rinse off afterward.

The City of Sunny Isles Beach announced the event Aug. 6 on its official X account, saying the monthly cleanups help keep the city's beaches in good shape for residents and visitors.

Getting there is free, too. The SIBshuttle city bus runs seven days a week, with the Orange Line operating from 8 a.m. to 7:35 p.m. The shuttle is wheelchair accessible and costs nothing to ride, according to the city's transportation page. During a February cleanup at the same location, the city directed volunteers to Heritage Park Garage, 19200 Collins Ave., for free parking. Residents can confirm parking arrangements for the Aug. 15 event by calling 305-792-1706.

Ellen Wynne Beach Access also has limited on-site parking, though the city's beach access page lists that lot at $3 per hour outside of special events.

Residents with questions about the cleanup program can reach the Cultural and Community Services Department at 305-792-1706.
