Miami-Dade County Public Schools earned an A-minus overall grade and ranked No. 8 among Florida school districts in Niche's 2027 Best School Districts rankings.

The ranking places the district serving Aventura, Sunny Isles Beach and Golden Beach ahead of Broward County Public Schools, which ranked No. 14.

St. Johns County School District took the No. 1 spot in Florida, earning an A overall grade.

M-DCPS has 333,233 students across 512 schools, according to Niche. The district had 1,820 reviews and an average rating of 4.1 out of 5 stars.

Niche also ranked M-DCPS No. 3 among the best places to teach in Florida and No. 4 among Florida districts with the best teachers.

How Niche calculates the rankings

Niche's rankings combine data and reviews to compare school districts on factors including academics, teachers, clubs and activities, diversity, college preparation, administration, health and safety, sports, food and resources and facilities.

The education platform uses federal and state data, school statistics and millions of reviews from students, parents and teachers.

The rankings are separate from the school and district grades issued by the Florida Department of Education.

M-DCPS holds seventh consecutive state A

The Niche ranking follows another strong showing for M-DCPS under Florida's school accountability system.

The Florida Department of Education gave M-DCPS an A district rating for the 2025-26 school year, marking its seventh consecutive A.

Among M-DCPS schools receiving state grades, 63% earned an A, 24% received a B and 12% received a C.

The district was also designated an Academically High-Performing School District for 2024-25, one of 13 Florida districts that met state requirements involving school and district grades, class-size compliance and financial audits.

The Niche and state ratings use different methodologies and should not be directly compared. Niche incorporates government data, school statistics and user reviews, while Florida's accountability grades are based on state-defined measures of student achievement and academic growth.
