Uniqlo will open its first South Florida store at Aventura Mall on Thursday, Nov. 5, giving shoppers access to a two-level, 17,269-square-foot location at 19501 Biscayne Blvd.
The store is the larger of two Miami-area locations the Japanese clothing retailer plans to open in November. A smaller, 8,557-square-foot store at 530 Lincoln Road in Miami Beach is scheduled to open Nov. 12, as first reported by the Miami Herald.
"We've wanted to come to South Florida for some time and were waiting for the right locations," Uniqlo USA CEO Fuminori Adachi said in an email interview with the Herald.
Adachi said the company sought locations where it could establish a significant presence, represent the Uniqlo brand and offer its full product assortment and services.
Uniqlo, owned by Fast Retailing Co., operates more than 2,500 stores worldwide and 88 in the United States, according to Miami New Times and the Herald. The company is known for its in-house-designed "LifeWear" clothing, which emphasizes functional everyday basics.
Uniqlo currently operates two Florida stores, both in the Orlando area, and plans to open another at Waterford Lakes before the two South Florida locations. Once the Aventura and Miami Beach stores open, the company is expected to have five Florida locations.
Aventura store will offer customization and repairs
The Aventura store will feature a UTme! customization station where shoppers can create original designs on T-shirts and tote bags.
Collaborative UTme! shirts will feature Miami-area artists, businesses and organizations. Designs include Art Deco-inspired work by interior decorator Dani Klaric of Euphoria Collective and Miami-inspired artwork from Bobbie Goods.
The store will also include a RE.UNIQLO Studio offering repair and embroidery services.
Uniqlo's broader RE.UNIQLO program collects gently used Uniqlo clothing for reuse, including donations distributed through Covenant House. The company also collects clothing that cannot be reused for recycling.
Campaign highlights Miami residents
Uniqlo's "Made for All. Made for Miami" campaign features several people with ties to the area, including model and La Vie co-founder Josie Lentner, Cuban-American multimedia artist Lazaro Rodriguez and chef Sebastian Vargas, co-founder of Grassfed Culture Hospitality.
The campaign is designed to highlight Miami's culture, architecture, food and multicultural identity as the Japanese retailer enters the South Florida market.
Library partnership includes design contest
Uniqlo is also partnering with the Friends of the Miami-Dade Public Library on a yearlong "My First Library Card Program."
The partnership includes a community design contest that opened Thursday, Oct. 1. Miami-Dade County residents age 13 and older with a Miami-Dade Public Library System card can submit original artwork for a limited-edition library card and co-branded tote bag.
The contest prohibits AI-generated artwork.
The winning design will be featured on the library card and tote bag, and the winner will receive a $500 Uniqlo gift card.
According to the Friends of the Miami-Dade Public Library, Uniqlo is contributing $20,000 to the program along with 10,000 baby clothing items and 10,000 mini tote bags for distribution to new parents through local hospitals.
Contest results are scheduled to be announced Saturday, Nov. 14, during events at the Miami Beach Regional Library and Northeast Dade-Aventura Branch Library.
The Miami Beach event is scheduled for 1:30 to 3 p.m., followed by the Northeast Dade-Aventura event from 4 to 5:30 p.m.
Aventura Mall adds more national retailers
The openings come as Aventura Mall continues adding major retailers.
The mall was named the Best Mall in the United States in the 2026 USA Today 10Best Readers' Choice Awards, earning the title for the second consecutive year.
Aventura Mall reported that first-quarter 2026 foot traffic increased 9% compared with the same period a year earlier. Separate data covering January through May showed visitors spending an average of 104 minutes at the mall.
Uniqlo joins a broader group of retailers expanding at Aventura Mall, including Bershka's first U.S. store and Revolve's first permanent brick-and-mortar location in Florida.
