The Taco Stand, a Baja California-inspired taqueria, opens its fourth Miami-Dade County location Oct. 1 at 19129 Biscayne Blvd. in Aventura.
The restaurant soft-opened Sept. 30 in the former space of Bodega Taqueria Y Tequila, which opened there in 2021 and closed quietly about two years later. The storefront has been vacant since. The new tenant brings 25 indoor seats, a 20-seat outdoor patio and a takeout counter to the spot, theMiami Heraldreported.
Background and ownership
Founders Julian Hakim and Aram Baloyan grew up along the Tijuana border and opened their first Taco Stand in La Jolla, California, in November 2013. The pair run Shōwa Hospitality, a San Diego-based restaurant group that now operates locations across southern California, Dallas, Las Vegas and South Florida. Their Wynwood Taco Stand location also houses Hiden, a Michelin-starred Japanese omakase counter, according to the Herald.
Menu offerings and hours
The Aventura menu features tacos in six varieties: al pastor, carne asada, birria, chicken, shrimp and grilled mahi mahi. Burritos, burrito bowls, quesadillas, carne asada fries and churros round out the lineup. The chain is best known for its birria ramen, a noodle dish served in rich consommé. A breakfast menu and imported beer are also available.
The restaurant is open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The full menu is posted atletstaco.com.
Regional expansion and neighborhood context
The Aventura spot joins three other Miami-Dade locations in Wynwood, South Beach and Little Havana. The brand's South Florida footprint has grown steadily since Wynwood opened in 2018, followed by Little Havana in January 2024, South Beach in February 2025, and a Sawgrass Mills location in Sunrise in May 2026.
The opening fills a vacancy on a stretch of Biscayne Boulevard where an Aventura Starbucks recently closed as part of a nationwide 250-store cut. App-based ordering for the Aventura location is expected to go live about one week after the Oct. 1 opening.
