Aventura-area diners get five more weeks of prix-fixe restaurant deals after the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau extended Miami Spice Restaurant Months through Oct. 31.

The extension, announced Monday, Sept. 14, marks the first time in nearly a decade that the program has run a third month. The last time was 2017, when the bureau added October to help restaurants recover from Hurricane Irma closures. This year, the reason is a milestone: the program's 25th anniversary and record participation.

Restaurant signups hit a record this year

More than 400 restaurants across Greater Miami signed up for the August and September season, according to Miami New Times. The South Florida Business Journal reported participation climbed from 308 restaurants on Aug. 1 to 401 by mid-September.

Menu prices hold steady for October

Prices stay the same in October. Three-course brunch and lunch menus cost $40. Dinner menus run $50 or $65. The Miami Spice Reserve tier, which covers premium prix-fixe and tasting menus, starts at $95. The GMCVB says each menu saves diners at least 30% compared with ordering the same dishes a la carte.

GMCVB President and CEO David Whitaker said in the announcement that extending the program gives diners more time to experience the collaboration between restaurants and the dining public.

Aventura and Sunny Isles Beach restaurants

Twenty Aventura restaurants participated during August and September, according to the GMCVB. The list included Bulla Gastrobar Aventura, STK Steakhouse Aventura, Toku Modern Asian, Perl By Chef IP, Mangrove, Novecento Aventura and XINO (Modern Chinese), among others.

Eight Sunny Isles Beach restaurants also took part, including Avra Estiatorio Miami, Il Mulino New York, Ke-Uh at Acqualina Resort and Rose Cafe & Restaurant. Rose Cafe, at 16690 Collins Ave., offered a "Wine Down at Rose" deal with 50% off select wine bottles Monday through Thursday during the initial season, Biscayne Times reported.

Not all of those restaurants are guaranteed to return for October.
