Families in Sunny Isles Beach can meet local police officers, play games, and dance to live music at a free Back to School Splash and National Night Out celebration on Tuesday, August 4, at Pelican Community Park.
The event runs from 5 to 8 p.m. at the park, 18115 North Bay Road. It's open to all residents and falls nine days before classes resume at Norman S. Edelcup/Sunny Isles Beach K-8 School on Thursday, August 13.
The city's Cultural & Community Services Department, led by Director Colin Summers, organizes the annual gathering. In the city's Summer 2026 Live & Play guide, Summers said the department is offering a full lineup of events and programs for residents of all ages this summer.
National Night Out is a nationwide community policing event held the first Tuesday of August every year since 1984, sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch. Sunny Isles Beach has paired it with its back-to-school celebration for at least two consecutive years.
No registration is required.
